TFRA Strategy — Important Disclosures

“TFRA” (Tax-Free Retirement Account) is a marketing term describing a strategy that uses permanent life insurance; it is not a separate bank or investment account or an IRS-qualified retirement plan. A TFRA strategy may use cash-value permanent life insurance, including indexed universal life insurance. Policy premiums, charges, fees, and surrender charges can affect cash values and results. Index-linked interest crediting does not guarantee positive cash-value growth; index floors generally apply to index crediting, not to the policy’s overall cash value after deductions. Policy loans and withdrawals may reduce cash value and death benefits, increase the risk of policy lapse, and create adverse tax consequences, particularly if a policy lapses or is surrendered with outstanding loans. Tax treatment depends on applicable law, policy design, funding, and whether the policy is a Modified Endowment Contract (MEC). Policy guarantees are subject to the issuing insurer’s claims-paying ability. Results and suitability vary by individual circumstances. Consult qualified tax and legal professionals regarding individual tax or legal questions.
